Anette Rasmussen appointed ECTA President

We are pleased to announce that Partner and Attorney at Law Anette Rasmussen from AWA’s Copenhagen office has today been appointed President of ECTA.

ECTA consists of legal attorneys within trademark, design, copyright and internet-related topics as well as anti-counterfeiting, working to improve and influence European IP legislation and practice.

Founded in 1980, ECTA works closely with institutions like the European Commission, EUIPO, WIPO and other national and international organisations to maintain and influence future IP developments.

Over the past 40 years, ECTA has been involved with introducing the EU’s Community Trademark System, harmonising national laws of EU member states, the EU Trademark Regulation and Directive, the EU Design Regulation and Directive, EU Directive on the Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights as well as regulations concerning copyright and the .eu top-level domain (TLD).

Anette has been an active committee member of ECTA since 2005, including Vice-Chair of ECTA’s EUIPO-Link Committee.

She has been part of ECTA’s Management Committee since 2016, serving as Second Vice-President for two years and then as First Vice-President for the past two years. These positions form part of the election requirements for President.

Anette will serve as ECTA President over the next two years.

“I wish to thank all the Council Members at ECTA for appointing me to the Management Committee in 2016 and for this appointment today as President. It has been a privilege to work alongside such dedicated people, navigating complex situations and witnessing our accomplishments together. I am looking forward to continuing the journey of enhancing ECTA’s role in guiding European intellectual property legislation and building an even stronger ECTA for the future,” says Anette.

AWA Group CEO Thor Mosaker comments: “I wish to congratulate Anette on this appointment as ECTA President, underpinning AWA’s commitment to being active participators in the IP and legal communities. Appointments like these are of great benefit to our clients as a platform to influence legislation and practice.”
