AWA announces residency at BioInnovation Institute (BII) in Copenhagen, Denmark

We are pleased to announce that AWA has secured an official residency at the BioInnovation Institute (BII) in Copenhagen, Denmark.

BII offers early-stage funding, business development support, lab and office infrastructure, as well as a global network for start-ups in its portfolio. The aim is to help entrepreneurs develop and mature their research projects to attract vital capital investment, thereby contributing to the development of new solutions in bioindustrials, health-tech, and therapeutics.

AWA has supported the Danish innovation landscape for over 150 years, and is a trusted IP partner at well-established start-up programs such as the Danish Tech Challenge, the GreenUP Accelerator and NIRAS Green Tech Hub.

AWA’s residency at BII enables us to further strengthen this commitment by continuing to work with early-stage life sciences start-ups on their intellectual property needs.

AWA already collaborates with several BII entrepreneurs, and to launch the residency, Michael Sommer delivered an introductory session on 20 August 2025, presenting our firm and the importance of strategically including intellectual property when working on “bringing science to life”.
