Joachim Møller Larsen

Joachim gained a solid understanding of plant, human, and microbiology, genetics, molecular biology, heterologous expression systems, and protein chemistry through his master’s degree.

During his master’s thesis, Joachim worked with the expression and characterisation of cytochrome P450 enzymes in yeast to identify candidate enzymes for replicating a biosynthetic pathway capable of producing the guaianolide thapsigargin, which is naturally produced in the plant Thapsia garganica.

Early in his professional career, Joachim served as a patent examiner for eight years at the Danish Patent and Trademark Office, conducting patent searches and examinations, as well as validity, landscape, and FTO searches, in the fields of chemistry, biotechnology, and medical devices.

Following this period, Joachim worked as a patent consultant for three and a half years, primarily in molecular biology, biologics, microbiology, and fermentation-based technology.

Joachim has extensive experience on both the government and consulting sides of the patenting process.
