Lars is a European Patent Attorney with extensive experience from both private practice and patent examination.
He began his career as a patent examiner at the Danish Patent Office for three years, followed by eight years as an examiner at the European Patent Office (EPO) in Munich, working with search, examination, prosecution and opposition proceedings in the field of biotechnology, serving as first or second examiner or as chairperson.
Since returning to Denmark in 1998, Lars has worked in the private sector providing intellectual property advice to the life science and chemistry industries and academia, including creation and IP portfolio prosecution, freedom-to-operate (FTO) analysis, IP due diligence analysis, IP Strategy and technical support to parties involved in patent disputes (PI and validity) before national courts.

Lars is handling cases across most fields of chemistry, with a focus on biotechnology, including molecular biology, gene and cell therapy, antibody technologies (including biosimilars), vaccines and diagnostics, as well as pharmaceuticals, including small molecules.
Today, he mainly drafts opposition and appeal notices and responses, including strategic advice, and conducts oral proceedings before the European Patent Office. He also provides technical support and expert declarations to parties involved in PI and validity cases in the Nordic countries.
Lars also serves as an ad hoc technical judge at the Danish Maritime and Commercial High Court and the Eastern High Court in Copenhagen for more than 10 years.
